The Innovation Program -  Tangerine

At Tangerine Bank (formerly ING DIRECT Canada), a development program was designed for staff with a keen interest in problem solving; to join the innovation team on a 12-month basis. The highly coveted Innovation Consultant role offered exposure to group facilitation workshops, continuous learning opportunities, corporate project involvement and management of the digital ideation portal named, the Orange Spark.

My role as the consultant was to help internal clients organize and define their business problem and aid in the development of new strategies. Managing the Orange Spark community was also part of my responsibility. The 'Spark yielded over 300 business ideas with staff engagement scores of over 1000 likes and 500 comments under my management.

I helped design and facilitate over 25 ideation workshops to develop unbiased framework and direction for my stakeholder. A formal session capture with recommendations was created and delivered for each.

  • Empathy Mapping
  • Divergent to Convergent thinking
  • Delivery (Facilitator tips)

IBM DesignCamp

IBM DesinCamp is IBM's iteration and adaptation of IDEO's Design Thinking.
Differentiating elements include:
1. Hills - A business goal for your release, framed around the user experience.
2. Playback - A demo of the user experience of the offering in development.
3. Sponsor User - Users engaged through out the project to represent target personas for a project.

In the four day workshop, our teams tackled a real business problem from beginning to completion by working through each principle of Design Thinking and IBMs DesignCamp methodologies.
